  15. 1. quit all other applications
  16. 2. insert the cd into your cd-rom drive(the start.exe file will automatically launch)
  17. 3. If you do not see the opening logo movie (spinning 'A'), then QuickTime is not installed properly. Quit the start.exe program and and refer to the "to install QuickTime" instructions further along in this read me.
  18. 4. if the cd doesn't start automatically, double click on start.exe inthe "avalanche" folder.  or select start/run from your windows task bar and type "D:/start.exe" (if D is the letter of your cd rom drive)Macintosh

  20. 1. quit all other applications
  21. 2. install QuickTime if you don't already have it
  22. 3. insert the cd into your cd-rom drive
  23. 4. double click on the start icon in the "avalanche" folder.

  25. Trouble shooting:
  26. 1.If no videos play(only black) then you do not have QuickTime properly
  27. installed,refer to the next section "to install QuickTime".
  28. 2.If you are running your monitor in 8-bit(256 colors) mode then set your monitor settings to 16-bit or higher("Start"->"settings"->
  29. control panels"->double clik on "display" then go to settings tab).
  30. If your colors are all messed up and there are color bursts when you click on the buttons then your running the "start.exe" in 8-bit mode.
  31. 3.If you click on the top left "USWEST.net" button on the "USWEST.net" page and nothing happens then you probably have a browser already running, quit all other applications and then try again.If it still 
  32. does not work then you may need to install our browser first, by clicking on the "Upgrade to the USWEST/Netscape browser" button on the USWEST.net page.

  38. 1. with the cd in the cd-rom player, double click on the "my computer" icon on your desktop
  39. 2. right click on the "avalanche" cd-rom icon and select explore
  40. 3. double click on the QuickTime folder, then double click on "qt30.exe" or select START/RUN from your windows task bar and type "d:/qt30.exe" if d is the letter of your cd-rom drive
  41. 4. restart your computer

  44. 1. with the cd in the cd-rom player double click on the install quicktime icon located in the QuickTime 3.0 installer folder.  Then follow the installer instructions
